RV Park Tour: Admiralty RV Resort in San Antonio, Texas

Entering Admiralty RV Resort

Entering Admiralty RV Resort

If you are headed to San Antonio to visit SeaWorld, consider staying at Admiralty RV Resort. This 207 site RV Resort is located just one mile from SeaWorld San Antonio. During our stay here we were able to get from our campsite to our parking space at SeaWorld in less than 5 minutes!

Admiralty RV Resort hosts pull-through and back-in RV campsites. All sites include full-hookups, a concrete pad, a brick patio with a picnic table, and cable TV.

Premium sites include at least some shade from a tree. Some campsites also include an additional parking space next to the site. During our stay we saw everything from very small pull-behind trailers and pop-ups to big high-end Class A coaches. This resort is big rig friendly and offers Military discounts.

There is a lot of concrete in this park, but the landscaping that is here is well maintained. Most of the sites are very close together. The bad part about the proximity of the sites to each other is that we felt a little bit cramped outside. We were also disturbed one night by a family arriving very late during the night and setting up in the site next to us. In fairness, however, these folks were loud in general and conducted their setup as if it were noon (yelling back and forth to each other and so on), so we would have likely been disturbed by them even if the sites were larger. The positive about the closeness of the sites is that with our tree plus our camper and the Tiffin motorhome parked on the other side of our patio, we had shade most of the day!

Our Campsite at Admiralty RV Resort

Our Campsite at Admiralty RV Resort

Admiralty brought in a new management team about 4 months ago: husband and wife team JB and Marty. Their current staff are all very friendly and do a great job of keeping the facility clean. Our site was missing its picnic table when we arrived, but when we mentioned it to JB, he brought one to us right away.

Amenities here include a huge swimming pool, a basketball half-court, 2 horseshoe pits, 2 pet playgrounds, a fitness center, a playground, a library/jigsaw puzzle room, and a laundry room. All of the amenities are well maintained. Basketballs and horseshoes are available for loan at the Office. The Office also includes a small RV supply store and a computer for guest use. Please note that the Office is open from 8am until 5pm (as of this writing). Amenities that go through the Office including access to basketballs, horseshoes and the fitness center are only available during these hours.

Other amenities include a free shuttle to SeaWorld. It departs at 10am and returns at 5pm daily. They ask that you sign up for the shuttle service in advance so they can plan for the correct number of people. Wi-Fi access is free for the first 24 hours, and available for a fee after that time.

The resort also offers 3 restroom/shower buildings, all of which were clean. One of these buildings was getting a new air conditioning system during our visit.

Admiralty RV Resort is located at 1485 N Ellison Dr, San Antonio TX 78251. It took us less than 5 minutes to get to SeaWorld/Aquatica and about 30 minutes to get to downtown San Antonio.

While we were here we also visited The Wolff, the Guinness World Record Museum in downtown, and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.

And if you want a break from cooking, check out our long-time favorite, Mi Tierra in Market Square, or the gem we found on this trip: Tacos y Burritos Metro Basilica 2 only 10 minutes away from Admiralty RV Resort! Both are phenomenal.

Turning Into a DUMP

The management must have changed. The staff that work and live here run the show. A couple of the men seem to do all the work and the others seem like bums. Some of their families seem to be like gypsies. Their kids don’t go to school and even they do home schooling which I doubt as other kids said they brag about not going to school. The kids stay in the same clothes for a week at a time. Then the kids are allowed to roam the park unsupervised making noise and tearing up the game room or pool area. Despite having a rule limiting outdoor furnishings the workers junk up the lots as it seems rules don’t apply to them. The pool is not cleaned and has lots of leaves and bugs floating and sediment on the bottom. I will not be staying here again. It’s too bad as this park used to be a nice place a year ago.

Nice Place!

This is a very nice place to stay! We’ve been here for a couple of weeks, and have had a great time. The pool is the best part, because it is HUGE! All the other people staying here are nice and the staff is great (especially Gail). Laundry facilities are abundant and cost $1.75 per load. It’s conveniently located next to all kinds of shopping. There is a fenced in space for dogs to run around and people pick up after them. I really only have two complaints 1. The water tastes funny, so we’re forced to use bottled and 2. The morning commute is terrible. I work about 10-15min away, but it takes me 35-40 because of traffic. Obviously this has nothing to do with the park, but thought I’d share.

Spots are way too close together and no cable there. It seemed like there were a lot of full timers or long term tenants there. Everything else was fine and ladies at the front were very nice, just a little too cramped for us.

Wow What A Great Time!

only stayed for 2 nights but had a blast. The staff was great, the park was well maintained and the kids loved the pool. The bathrooms were so clean! The laundromat was spot on! They had everything you could want in a RV park! Don't know if we will ever top this!

Beautiful park! Well maintained sparkling pool. Lots of fun activities. Staff are very friendly , they even helped us park our rig! The free shuttle to Sea World was a great perk. The laundry facility is updated with all brand new machines. The park is under new management and they do a terrific job making everyone feel welcome! 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We stayed here overnight to use full hookups and laundry, so we did not use the pool or clubhouse amenities. The staff were pleasant and courteous, and the small dog park was a plus. We also appreciated the paved pull through sites, and clean restrooms. Spacing between sites is close, to the point where they have painted lines in each site to set your driver's side wheels, so as not to encroach on your neighbor with your slides or awning. It is very convenient for exploring San Antonio, so if that is your goal, this is a good place to use as a base. We camped at Admiralty RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Blazing Star RV Resort

Admiralty RV Resort Overview:

Admiralty RV Resort in San Antonio Review and Rating

Admiralty RV Resort has over 200 sites, 9 cabins, several nice amenities, and is conveniently located a minute from Sea World!  In December 2019 Quality RV Resorts, which owns 15 premier luxury RV Resorts in Texas, purchased Admiralty RV Resort.  Quality RV Resorts immediately started making improvements and in less than 4 months they had put down new asphalt on all the roads, remodeled all 3 restrooms (they are now spectacular!); repaired and improved the pool, added new landscaping, beefed up security, restricted extra vehicles, added a business center, and improved the internet service!  Near term plans include redoing the dog park, redoing all of the floors, improving the fitness center, and adding an outdoor kitchen and firepit. Quality RV Resort's motto is "quality service, warm community, and amazing amenities."

Some of what now makes Admiralty RV Resort a five-star luxury resort and one of the Best RV Parks in Texas includes:

  • the entire park is clean and well maintained - I don't think I've visited a more pristine RV park
  • the staff is excellent - friendly, outgoing, and committed to making sure you have an enjoyable stay
  • the amenities are very good and also well maintained
  • the restroom are immaculate
  • the sites are above average, level, and a good mixture of shaded with mature sprawling trees and open

Admiralty RV Resort is located less than a mile off of Highway 151 and a minute from Sea World.  Highway 151 provides easy access to the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and downtown San Antonio.  The park is located in a residential neighborhood and is quiet with no freeway noise or honking horns!  HEB, Walmart, Home Depot, and several restaurants are within minutes of Admiralty.

Amenities and Fun Things To Do:

The RV Sites and Amenities at Admiralty RV Resort

There are over 200 sites at Admiralty which are a mixture of back-ins and pull-throughs. The pull-throughs are in four long rows and the back-ins are along the perimeter of the park, one side of which backs up to a fence and houses and side is against a dense treeline.   All of the sites have 30/50 AMP service, water, cable, and electric.  The hook-ups are conveniently located toward the rear of the site so extensions shouldn't be needed.

The pull-through sites are 60 feet long and around 11 feet long.  Most of the sites have 30 year old sprawling trees that provide some excellent shade in the hot summers.  Several of the sites have a tow or extra vehicle parking pad. All the sites have a brick patio with a picnic table.

The luxury sites are the end corner sites with a larger landscaped grassy area.  There are three pull-through sites that are around 110 feet long.

If you don't want to camp or have friends joining you without an RV, the nine park model cabins are perfect.  Each of them is one bedroom, air-conditioned and heated, and has a picnic table, front patio, TV, mini-refrigerator, hot plate, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, pots and pans, plates, and living room with a table and chairs and a couch. Linens are provided.

Some of the amenities at Admiralty RV Resort include:

  • clean laundry room with a sitting area with soft couches, books, and a TV
  • a patio with nice outdoor furniture, two BBQ grills, and a TV overlooking the pool
  • a huge junior Olympic sized heated pool with patio furniture including table and chairs and umbrellas
  • an event room with a pool table, kitchen, shuffleboard, darts, and several tables and chairs
  • three very clean restroom facilities with stall showers spread throughout the park
  • two small dog parks
  • a kids playscape
  • a half-court for basketball
  • an office with some RV supplies, a business center, a coffee bar, and staples
  • a fitness room
  • open air extra storage

A Typical Texas Outsider Day:

A Typical Texas Outside Day

We selected Admiralty RV Resort primarily because of it's proximity to Sea World, downtown San Antonio, and a golf course that we wanted to play.

Sea World and Aquatica are two of the top-rated attractions in San Antonio and they are less than a mile from Admiralty RV Resort.- read about our fun visit to both of these great places below.

During our first night around nine-thirty, we heard some big booms and thought that San Antonio was under attack.  We looked out our front door and discovered and watched a very good fireworks show at Sea World.

The next morning we teed at The Golf Club of Texas which was less than 15 minutes away.  A fun and forgiving course that's suitable for all levels of play.  Read our review of The Golf Club of San Antonio learn more about this course.

We've visited San Antonio on lots of different occasions and on this trip we discovered The Pearl which is a very cool entertainment district centered around and utilizing the old Pearl Brewery facilities.  The Pearl is home to an upscale hotel, several good but a tad pricey restaurants, some shops, some cool bars, a live music venue (The Jazz), and a food court with several food options. The evening we were there we got to listen to some good live music in the square and watch the kids enjoy a splash pad.

Cool Nearby Activities:

Near By Things To See and Do

As I mentioned, from Admiralty Resort you can easily get to any of the things to see and do in San Antonio - see Texas Outside's San Antonio Page to find lots of fun things to do.  We love to ride bikes around the Riverwalk area and now San Antonio has rental bikes through out the city and several locations with electric scooters - can't wait to try one of those.

Some of the major attractions include: Six Flags, the Riverwalk, the space needle, the Alamo, several missions, a kayaking park, and lots more. Read our articles about a fun visit to Sea World and Aquatica.

We love to golf and San Antonio is loading with some excellent courses (the courses at La Cantera Resort of the JW Marriott are our favorite - see this list of what Texas Outside considers to be the Best San Antonio Public Golf Courses).  Here is a San Antonio Golf Map to help you find all of the other San Antonio golf courses.

Things To Do:

Additional Pictures of Admiralty RV Resort

Texas Outside uses a tough rating scale and it’s difficult for a campground to get a “10”.  Each park is rated on:

  • Scenic Beauty: a campground that is flat with no trees or character gets a “1” and hills, lots of trees, beautiful lake site, and lush ground cover gets a “10”
  • Park Condition:  the cleaner, well kept, and maintained campgrounds receive high scores
  • Amenities: we are looking for lots of amenities like restrooms, dump stations, playgrounds, boat ramps, shelters, concession stand, rental toys, and more.
  • Campsites:  low scores are given for sites that are right next to each other (good for getting to know your neighbors, but not what we’re looking for when we’re camping); have no lantern holder, no water or electricity, no fire pit, no grill, or no picnic table (or it’s rotten wood); have no trees and no view; the ground cover is crushed rock (my bare feet hate that stuff!); and they require a lot of work to get your rig level.
  • Things To Do: Bonus points are given for campgrounds that offer lots of fun things to do at the park or very nearby – this includes: biking, hiking, climbing, boating, entertainment, golf, swimming, fishing, volleyball, horseshoes, and more
