Nike announces 2016 BETRUE line in support of LGBT pride

Nike holds a reputation for championing athletes of all walks of life. The sneaker and apparel giant believes that “diversity creates better communities and fosters innovation and growth.”

Now Nike has grown a bigger community. The company is the latest to release merchandise in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender pride. Levi’s Jeans released a number of items, as did adidas, Nike’s subsidiary Converse and many others.

Nike’s 2016 BETRUE collection was inspired by, and represents the LGBT community’s conviction, through the pairing of two prominent symbols of pride: the rainbow flag and pink triangle.

Since its inception, Nike has championed athletes of all walks of life, believing that diversity creates better communities and fosters innovation and growth. The 2016 BETRUE collection, inspired by the LGBT community, represents this conviction and commitment, pairing two prominent symbols of pride: the rainbow flag and pink triangle.

Nike Air Max Zero (BETRUE, with its triple white treatment and hint of rainbow in the sole, will be fourth colorway in the history of the Air Max Zero collection.)

All footwear will launch via SNKRS app on June 2. The NTM x BETRUE tight is available at and in select North America retail locations on June 9.

Nike Has More LGBT Pride Sneakers

The Air Max Zero isn't the only sneaker in this year's LGBT Pride BETRUE pack from Nike–there's also a basketball silhouette and a runner rounding out the set.

The HyperRev 2016 holds things down on the performance basketball sneaker end, while the Lunar Tempo 2 arrives as Nike's first-ever all-over rainbow print runner.

Also available in this collection are tees, tanks, and tights.

The shoes, pictured here, will launch on June 2 via Nike SNKRS, their release date coinciding with June, 2016 Pride celebrations.
